      Quinn's third Children of the Mist installment (after 2010's Ravished by a Highlander and Seduced by a Highlander) is another winning mix of fascinating history and lush romance. In 1678, Connor Grant abandons the Highlands and his beloved, Mairi MacGregor, to support England's King Charles II. Mairi comforts herself by learning to wield a sword. Seven years later, she heads to England on a mission and encounters Connor. Their interactions sizzle with sexual tension as the two realize that time and distance haven't lessened their mutual attraction. As Connor and Mairi seek to set their differences aside and build a life together, various parties attempt to destroy their efforts at happiness. Readers will be captivated by the meticulously accurate historical detail (including cameos by various famous figures) and Connor and Mairi's searing passion.
