      Alma Majors reinvents herself as a small-town police officer after experiencing a traumatic event during her successful career as an archaeologist. Cree Gregson, a bomb technician, is also seeking peace from his own past. When someone sets off a bomb that kills a woman, Cree and Alma begin working together to solve the case. While the premise strains credulity, Severn handles it with surprising gravitas. Alma and Cree are both believably doing their best to work through their traumas, with Cree both patient and considerate of Alma's triggers. His patience allows Alma to slowly trust and fall in love. VERDICT Libraries will find this book from Severn (Dead Giveaway) an excellent addition to their Harlequin collection.--Mary Frances Cely
