While this is her third cookbook (after True Comfort), TV personality Cavallari notes that it is the first one she has written without the help of a chef, and unfortunately, in some places it shows. A few of the recipes are confusingly written or leave out instructions for some of the listed ingredients, but otherwise, as the title indicates, they are generally straightforward and designed to be relatively quick and easy. The focus of the book is on meals Cavallari makes for herself and her family, many with an international flair, and it is organized in a standard fashion, ranging from drinks to desserts. There is, however, a rather miscellaneous chapter of "staples," which includes both chicken thighs and cream cheese frosting. Most but not all of the recipes are gluten-free or dairy-free, so alternative flours and milks are often required. There are photos, including many of the author, and each recipe includes a headnote, often referring to its family origins. VERDICT Desirable for Cavallari fans and those looking for healthy or gluten-free options. Purchase where there is interest.--Susan Hurst
